The Alabama Department of tourism has deemed 2012 the "Year of Alabama Food" and to celebrate, they've come up with a list of 100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before you Die. All of the dishes and restaurants were suggested by "tourism professionals" in Alabama. Check out the list of restaurants close to you, or click the link to see the state-wide list.

It's National Pancake Day at IHop -- and all restaruants nationwide are offering free pancakes from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. asking patrons to consider making a donation to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

The Network raises money for 170 children's hospitals across North America, which, in turn use the money where it's needed the most.

WHAT:           IHOP restaurants in the your area will celebrate Halloween a little early this year, offering kids 12 and under a free Scary Face Pancake as part of a national No Tricks – Just Treats program designed to provide kids with a safe and fun Halloween event.  The “design-your-own” Scary Face Pancake includes an oversized signature buttermilk pancake with a whipped topping mouth and strawberry nose, served with two mini OREO® cookies and candy corn on the side to allow kids to create their own Halloween hotcake.

When Osvaldo Sanchez, his brother Luis Sanchez and Javier Barragan opened Cozumel Mexican Grill in the Tallassee Shopping Center, the restaurant was equipped with 20 tables.

"When we first came to Tallassee, we thought 20 tables would be enough, but we didn't realize how much people around here love Mexican food," Osvaldo said.

So, when the opportunity for the owners to expand into the adjoining rental space was presented three months ago, they got busy.

After much anticipation by frequent diners, the new 3800 square-foot dining area was open Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
