Tallassee you asked for it! A Live Music Event in the Fall when the temperature is cooler. Come out for an awesome night of fun and enjoy the following live music from local artist Markus Brunson, local bands Legs and Liquor and Kanye Twitty, and touring band Trotline. This is a fundraising event to support the Tallassee Volunteer Firefighters Association and Fire Co., Inc.

When Mount Vernon Mills was going out of business, it deeded the old railroad bridge to the Chamber of Commerce.  That was quite an accomplishment for the then executive director of the Chamber, George McCain, who is now Mayor.  Every time a group of progressive-thinking people in Tallassee get together, they talk about the wonderful prospects of a walking bridge.

The Greater Tallassee Area Chamber of Commerce recently held a dedication ceremony for its three new “Welcome to Tallassee”  signs at the location of the new sign on Highway 229 South, in front of the GKN Aerospace facility.

Pull on your running shoes and enjoy Alabama's forests and fields with your family in the first-ever "Critter Crawl" -- a 5K run (with an additional 1-mile run run) along the beautiful trails of the Alabama Nature Center located at Lanark in Millbrook.

Grab your running shoes and hit the trails for the first ever Alabama Nature Center Critter Crawl! It's a 5K trail run beginning at 9 a.m. benefiting the Alabama Nature Center education programs. There will be a 1-mile race beginning at 10 a.m.

Moisture wicking shirts are guaranteed for participants registering before February 6, 2011.

 Pre-registration cost is $25 (5K) or $20 (1 Mile).

There will be prizes for male and female overall, Masters (40+) and Grand Masters (50+).

Library undergoing renovations in December -- The Tallassee Tribune

Tallassee Community Library will be getting some much needed updates beginning Nov. 29.

Sharon Johnson, librarian at TCL, said she came across an opportunity for a USDA Rural Development grant that would match a percentage of whatever the library could raise.
