Chapman announces appointments to Board of Registrars

Chapman announces appointments to Board of Registrars

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Secretary of State Beth Chapman has announced appointments to Alabama's Boards of Registrars.

Each of Alabama's 67 counties have a Board of Registrars that serves as the local entity for voter registration.  The Governor, State Auditor and the Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries each appoint one registrar in each county, with the exception of Jefferson County.  By law in Jefferson County, the Board of Registrars is appointed by the County Commission.

“These appointments are among the most important,” said Chapman.  “In order to continue to provide honest elections across our state, we must have registrars of good character who are able to demonstrate fair judgment.  With the next presidential election just around the corner, it is important to have the new appointees ready and trained for their new responsibilities as soon as possible.  I have no doubt that they will be ready and that we will be served well
