Coach named new principal at Southside Middle | News

Bruce Dean, an 18-year veteran educator for Tallassee City Schools, was named the new Principal at Southside Middle School on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 with a signing ceremony in his new office.  Coach Dean (seated) is flanked by faculty members Renee LaBaza; Meredith Fink; Heather Ernest; Mona Norrell; Jenny Stephens; Sheryl Parker; Chuck Adams; Heather Henderson; Diann Johnson; Pam Cox; Kelly Luker; John Goodman; Dr. Kenneth Varner (Superintendent of Schools); and Carl Stewart, former Principal of Tallassee High School.

Dean is a graduate of Tallassee High School and Troy (State) University.  He was a social studies teacher and coached a variety of sports before becoming Assistant Principal of Southside Middle School in 2009.  Former Principal Alan Thompson was killed in an automobile accident over the Christmas break, and Dean has served as Interim Principal since that time.
