Suspect in 2011 murder of Deatsville woman found guilty | News

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA)- A man arrested and charged with murder and arson in connection with the March 28, 2011 death of Julie Ann Nelson was convicted Tuesday in a Montgomery court of law.

State's evidence proved that Navus Jennings killed Nelson, a Deatsville resident, at her trailer and dumped her body at his place of employment, a trash dumpster business in Montgomery. 

Nelson's body was found behind a business off Lemon Street.

Authorities say that to cover up the blood crime scene, Jennings burned the trailer less than 12 hours after the body was discovered. 

Jennings was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in August 2011 in Moody, Alabama. 

In a March 30, 2011 interview, Nelson's daughter, Catina Jones, remembered her mother always having a smile. Nelson moved to Alabama from Louisiana more than 15 years ago to take care of her parents. She kept her accent and was known at the "Cajun Lady".

Sentencing has not yet been scheduled for Jennings.
