League of Women Voters of Alabama launches online voter educational tool | News
The League of Women Voters of Alabama has launched its nonpartisan election resource www.VOTE411.org, announced Kathryn Byrd, President of the LWVAL. This “one-stop-shop” for election information provides simple tools to help Alabama voters navigate the voting process this November. Www.VOTE411.org provides candidate information, explanations about proposed constitutional amendments, voter registration tools, polling place locations and other helpful Election Day information.
Detailed candidate information, including candidates’ direct responses to issue-related questions, has been submitted to the candidates for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and President of the Alabama Public Service Commission, to be posted as received.” The four major presidential candidates are also included.
On November 6th, Alabama voters will also cast their vote on a wide variety of proposed amendments to the Alabama Constitution. The League has developed explanation of 10 of the statewide amendments, describing what will happen if a given amendment passes or it fails the referendum. This information is also located on the website. Users who visit www.VOTE411.org can enter their address in order to “construct” a ballot listing the posted candidates, as well as the proposed constitutional amendments. From there they will be instructed on how to read the posted information.
Www.VOTE411.org is the nation’s premiere online election resource and the League of Women Voters of Alabama has added our state’s information www.VOTE411.org so that it can serve as a resource for all of Alabama voters. Nationally, in 2008, approximately 20 million voters found the information they needed through www.VOTE411.org, many of them young people and first-time voters.
“Www.VOTE 411.org is convenient, easy and empowering,” concluded Byrd. “I’ll be sharing it with my friends and family to help them prepare for Election Day, and we know many others will too.”
