No dice - man shot after argument from dice game

ELMORE CO., AL (WSFA) - Authorities are saying "no dice" after a man was shot and killed following an argument over money that started with a dice game.

According to the Elmore County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a shooting call at a residence on Osborne Lane around 12:05 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived they found 31-year-old Quinton Thomas outside the home, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Authorities say the shooting stemmed from an argument over money the victim allegedly owed the suspect, 28-year-old Kelvin Mitchell of Wetumpka. The altercation started some time during or shortly after a dice game that night. Mitchell allegedly went outside, grabbed a pistol, returned to the residence and shot Thomas at least three times.

Mitchell left the scene but was arrested by deputies a short time later. He is being held at the Elmore County Detention Facility on $75,000 bond.

A photo of Mitchell was not immediately available.
