Tallassee to host 'Capital City Classic' Show Choir Competition at MPAC | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Characters)
People may watch “Glee” and wonder if that is truly what today’s choral students are actually up to.
Next Friday and Saturday at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre downtown, everyone is invited to see real show choirs in performance and competition. The “Capital City Classic” has been a showcase for choral programs from all over the country over the past few years, and is hosted by the music department at Tallassee High School.
Tallassee’s choral directors are Jerry Cunningham and Adam Moxley.
The Capital City Classic is one of the finest competitions of its kind for show choir programs. Tallassee has one of the largest choral programs in the state with nearly 300 members and is home to Alabama’s only all-male show choir, Gold Edition. There is also a show choir for 9th grade girls called New Image; an all-female show choir for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders called the Divas; and the premier mixed show choir group, Voltage. All are performing their contest programs at the Classic, along with many other groups.
You are invited to join us Friday and Saturday at MPAC. Attached is official information for the Capital City Classic in Montgomery, Alabama on January 25-26 at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre.
